Jubilee Weekend. This was a great success and thanks to all who volunteered. Our own councilor Hazel Moore was heavily involved in the preparations along with other members of the Parish and Alison Middleton, the Abridge Community Champion. A big thanks to them all and everyone who attended to make it a great community event. Fortunately, the rain mostly stayed away too. The beacon was lit on Thursday 2^nd June for the first time in 2 decades. It took 4 people 3 hours to fill with wood and erect the safety barriers. Thank you to the one volunteer who showed up to help.

We slightly underestimated the speed the beacon would catch alight. Given the amount of wood, we estimated it would take 3-4 minutes to actually start showing any sign of fire but didn’t account for how dry the wood was and how quickly it would take. Apologies for this as the beacon caught light a few minutes earlier than planned. Hopefully, we will be able to light it again before another two decades pass.
